A new clip from Game of Thrones' sixth season premiere is here and centers entirely on a fan favorite. The scene in question does contain spoilers for those that haven't seen the fifth season.
Thrones star Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth, was on Conan last night to talk about the new season and brought along the minute-long clip. In the scene (which starts around 1:49 in the above video), Davos is protecting Jon Snow's body from what appears to be a group of men from the Night's Watch. It's still unclear why his body would need protecting, considering he's already dead, but fan theories have suggested that Snow will be brought back to life somehow during the season premiere.
Before debuting the clip, Cunningham told host Conan O'Brien that when he first met author George R.R. Martin, he was trusted with a secret that no one else knows. When O'Brien asked if he could say anything about the upcoming season or show in general, Cunningham joked that HBO have a pair of snipers ready to burst into action if anyone says anything.
HBO released an official synopsis for the season's first episode yesterday, including an ominous "Jon Snow is dead" line at the very beginning. Kit Harington's name was also removed from the list of actors that will appear in the episode. A full description of the season reads:
Following the shocking developments at the conclusion of season five, including Jon Snow’s bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys’ near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei’s public humiliation in the streets of King’s Landing, survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to press forward, inexorably, towards their uncertain individual fates. Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south.
Game of Thrones' sixth season premieres April 24 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. The official trailer for the upcoming season can be seen here.
