EA stops Donald Trump from using Mass Effect fan video

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has retweeted a video which equates himself with an evil racist from EA’s Mass Effect games.

Donald Trump has been forced to remove a video from Twitter that uses audio clips from Mass Effect, and which repurposes dialogue describing villain the Illusive Man to describe Trump himself.

Trump, or at least the people in charge of his Twitter account, had retweeted the video, entitled Trump Effect, from Twitter user Immigrants☆4☆Trump.

The video includes audio from Mass Effect 2, specifically villain the Illusive Man – who in the game’s story is a racist who hates aliens and whose misguided prejudices almost result in the end of all life on the planet.

In the video clip that you can still see here, the character, voiced by West Wing’s Martin Sheen, talks about humanity being ‘under attack’ and ‘one specific man’ being its only saviour.

You’d think it was meant as a joke, except the original account doesn’t seem to be treating it that way – and in any case Trump still retweeted it.

Game publisher EA were not amused though, and according to Game Informer promptly got the tweet taken down on copyright issues.

Developer BioWare also noticed, with designer Manveer Heir having a few choice things to say about the matter.
